We spent an inspiring afternoon and evening with them at Bohemia Hop – exploring the latest hop industry updates, experiencing the aromas of Czech hop varieties, and visiting the Hop Museum. 🍺 The day wrapped up at Pioneer Brewery, where owner and brewmaster Michal Havrda hosted our guests late into the evening. Big thanks to everyone for the great atmosphere – it was a day full of sharing, flavor, and hop inspiration!
The first quarter of the year was marked by alternating of above-average temperatures and significantly lower ones, particularly in January (maximum temperature 10.3 °C, minimum -7.9 °C) and March (maximum 18.2 °C, minimum -9.6 °C). A significant cold spell occurred in mid-February, when temperatures dropped below -15 °C for five consecutive days. The average temperature in February was -2 °C, which is 8.5 °C lower than in the same period last year. However, compared to the longterm average, the overall temperature in the first quarter remained balanced.
The Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture (CISTA/UKZUZ) updated data on acreage of hop varieties in the Czech Republic as of April 30, 2025. As of this date, the hop harvest area is registered at 4,815.9 hectares, representing a year-on-year decrease of 0.6 % (compared to August 20, 2024, when it was 4,844.8 hectares). Compared to the last year, the area of hop fields in the Saaz hop-growing region decreased by 21.6 hectares (-0,58 %). The area of the fine aroma Saaz hops decreased by 25.6 hectares (i.e. by 0.64%) to the current 3954.2 hectares.
From April 29-May 1, 2025, Bohemia Hop participated in the international Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America held in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. At our booth, we welcomed business partners not only from the United States but also from many countries in Europe, Asia or South and North America, and discussed the quality and future of Czech hops.

Beer Expo Tokio, which took place from April 9–13 at the Makuhari Exhibition Centre near Tokio, was the very first event of this size to be organised by Japanese craft breweries. Beer Expo combined a beer trade fair, a conference and Japanese beer. Participants had the chance to taste beers from more than 200 Japanese breweries and at the same time take part in several dozen professional seminars.
On 4 March 2025, Bohemia Hop a.s. became the host of an incoming mission of brewers and brewmasters from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Accompanied by Ms. Ani Hakobjan, Mr. Artyom Lukashev from the Ministry of Agriculture and Ms. Markéta Pečková from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kazakhstan, we were pleased to introduce Bohemia Hop and Chmelařství, družstvo Žatec to our guests.
