The CISTA announced new figures of the Czech hop acreage updated on April 30, 2019. The total acreage reaches 5 004 ha. Thus we recorded a small decline by 16 ha in comparison to the acreage of previous crop year (5 020 ha).
In the Saaz region, growers keep the hops on 3 867 ha. It is 11 ha increase compared to the last crop year. The acreage of hops in the Auscha region is on the decrease. Currently, the hops are grown on 516 ha. It is 19 ha less compared to he last crop year. The similar situation is in the Tirschitz region, where the hops are currently grown on 621 ha, 8 ha less in comparison to the 2018 crop year.
The most of acreage is traditionally covered by the Saaz hops. Nevertheless, the figures show 1,95 % decrease of the acreage of this fine aroma variety. The positive trends can be seen on the fields of Sladek , Premiant and Agnus hops. Sladek hops recorded increase in acreage by 24 ha, the acreage of Premiant hops increased by 23 ha and Agnus expanded its acreage on 16 ha of newly planted fileds.
