The Ministry of Agriculture and the Czech Embassy in Tokyo organized a lecture day on Czech beer in the Czech pavilion. One hundred Japanese brewers, including representatives of all major Japanese breweries, had the opportunity to listen to presentations on Czech hop growing, hop research, Czech malt and, of course, Czech beer.

Czech hops, and Žatec and the Landscape of Saaz Hops in UNESCO, were presented by Zdeněk Rosa, Czech hop research by Josef Patzak and malt by Václav Štursa. The highlight and the beginning of the informal part on the roof of the pavilion was the tapping of the barrel by Václav Berka from Plzeňský Prazdroj.

During the day, the Japanese public had the opportunity to learn about Czech hop varieties in the pavilion and more detailed information about the inscription of Žatec and the Landscape of Saaz Hops in UNESCO. The love of the Japanese for Czech beer is also reflected in the thousands of glasses of Czech lager served to Expo visitors every day.
