Bohemia hop presented Czech hops in Japan. The event was organized by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture and Honorary Consulate in Sapporo. This event was intended for experts from Japanese industrial breweries as well as for representatives of craft breweries from Hokkaido and Tohoku regions.

The seminar succesfully followed up on the similar events having taken place in Tokio in 2019 and 2022 where Bohemia Hop also introduced the Czech hop varieties and described their applications in brewing. The event was carried out with a support of Sapporo Breweries, The Hop Growers Union of The Czech Republic, EAT, Onishi Shoji and The University of Chemistry and Technology Prague.

Mr. Masahiro Nomura, the Honorar Consul in Sapporo, delivered his inaugurate address of the event in which he welcomed all attendees of the seminar. He was followed by Irena Leopoldova, the Agriculture Attaché of The Czech Republic in Japan, who presented a brief information about the sector of agriculture and food products in Czechia with a focus on export. The next speaker was Mr. Koie from Sapporo Breweries. Mr. Koie described the uniqueness of Czech hops and projects in the Czech Republic the Sapporo Breweries work on, e.g. Collaborative Contract Farming System (CCFS) with hop suppliers of CHMELARSTVI, cooperative.

 After the first block of presentations, the attendess could watch the movie about the Czech hop industry as whole and a progess of hop farmer´s year. The second part of presentations began with the presentation of Zdenek Rosa from Bohemia Hop. The presentation was focused on the history and the present of Czech hop industry and using new Czech hop varieties in current trends of brewing. The highligth of the day was the presentation of Tomas Kincl from the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague. Tomas Kincl explained the specifity of brewing of Czech beer styles with a focus on technology, methodology and significance of raw materials. Regarding hops, he showed several ways how the Czech hop varieties can be used for brewing as well as for dry hopping.

The main program was accompanied with testing beers brewed in the Czech Republic and hopped with the original Czech hops. These beers were donored by breweries: Plzeňský Prazdroj, Hostivar, Pioneer, Pivoloď, Vinohradský pivovar, Pivovar Matuška, Porta Coeli and sv. Norbert.

The breweres all around the Japan had chance to join the on-line seminar through MS Teams.
