Bohemia Hop in cooperation with the Hop Research Institute in Zatec organized a seminar on „ Applications of the Czech Hops in the Brewing Industry” that took place on 15th April 2014. Almost 100 participants from Czech breweries and other experts related with brewing industry gathered at the Hop Research Institute to learn about the current trends and to taste and evaluate beers brewed from Czech hop varieties in an experimental brewery.
The program included 6 oral presentations and 6 rounds of the evaluation of different beer types and 1 round of evaluation of raw hops.

According to data of the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture (CISTA) collected up to 30th April 2014, the total acreage of Czech hops has increased by 153 ha since 2013. Thus, the total acreage in the Czech Republic reached 4.472 ha due to 406 ha of newly planted hops. The major part of newly planted hops was used for recovering fields that were affected by floods in 2013.
Bohemia Hop as the only representative of Czech hop industry participated in Craft Brewer´s Conference (CBC) and BrewExpo America 2014 in Denver, Colorado, USA. Many participants of CBC visited our booth and took free samples of original Czech hop varieties that were displayed. Almost 10.000 people and more than 400 exhibitors visited CBC and BrewExpo America.
Every two years a highly qualified professional panel of beer judges honors the top three beers in 94 beer style categories with gold, silver and bronze awards. The World Beer Cup 2014 took place in Denver during the CBC and BrewExpo America 2014. 219 judges from 31 countries evaluated 4.754 beers of 1.403 breweries in 94 categories. Several customers of Bohemia Hop have been awarded in several different categories.
Bohemia Hop is a member of Brewers Association of America, the Czech Beer and Malt Association and also the Czech-Moravian Union of Microbrewers.
Mr. Zdenek Rosa, Chairman of Bohemia Hop a.s. and Chmelarstvi, cooperative Zatec and vice-chairman of Hop Grower´s Union of the Czech Republic, and other 31 producers representing EU quality schemes accompanied the Commissioner Cioloş during his official visit to Japan and South Korea on 10-15 November 2013.
Mr. Rosa participated in series of business and press events that took place in Tokyo and Seoul. He provided local buyers and media with information about the Zatecky chmel (Saaz Variety) that was registered in the List of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Designation as well as other original Czech varieties.

Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture (CISTA) announced the final crop results for 2013.
The total hop harvest in the Czech Republic reached 5 329,8 t of hops. The average yield was 1,23 t/ha.
The total production was up by 991,8 t compare to 2012 but still down by 758,2 t compare to 2011 and 951,8 t compare to 10-year average
